The CrossFit Open…For those of us that are newer to the community it is probably pretty vague.
Is the gym open for CrossFit?
Isn’t it always?
For the uninitiated I give only this to help, um…initiate you?
It gets me every time.
The Open is the time of year where we can all come together as a community to celebrate our fitness. More than 300k registered for the last Open worldwide. We often are able to break barriers we probably didn't even realize were there. Often times the first Muscle Ups or Double Unders are achieved in the Open with all your friends at Revolt cheering you on.
The first Open workout will be released on October 10th, yup, my birthday. You know what would be the greatest present I could get? Seeing all the amazing people that make up the Revolt family throwing down together showing how far we have come. Your progress is our success and the Open is our chance to celebrate with the worldwide community that is CrossFit.
During the last Open we held Friday Night lights. As much fun as that was we want to give the opportunity for as many of you as possible, to participate together. As such we will hold the Open workout on Saturday mornings to be followed by some good food and maybe a few beers.
To help you prepare for the Open and assist in achieving the SMART goals we have written down we are going to make a change. Starting on September 5th and every Thursday after until the completion of the Open we will have GOAT day. No, Dukes family, we will not be bringing a goat to the gym. Instead when you come in on Thursday you will be led by your Coaches through the general warmup and then YOU can choose what movement you want help on. Want to get coached on double unders? Need a few more drills for muscle ups? Want to work on getting stronger and hit some back squats? The hour will be yours and your Coach will be there to guide you through it as always.
So get ready! Get ready to SMASH your SMART goals by putting in the time to practice and get ready to SMASH the Open!
And remember, "there are only two reasons for not signing up for the Open:
Choose your side." Danny Broflex
